PROJECT: SR 36 FROM BOONE AVENUE TO SR 75 - WASHINGTON CO, TN

CLIENT: Tennessee Department of Transportation

This 4.1-mile project is an improvement to the existing State Route 36 linking the Johnson City urban boundaries with the Kingsport urban boundaries.  The typical cross-section provides four twelve foot traffic lanes, a center left turn lane, and curb and gutter.  Numerous alternatives were considered based on constructability, environmental impact, and economics.  The best alignment was selected.  Vaughn & Melton provided the survey, preliminary right-of-way, construction plans, grade, drain and paving services for this project.

Like many of our other projects, this roadway is expected to have a major impact on economic development in the area.  The project let out to bid in 2011 for $41 million.

YOUR PROJECT. OUR PROMISE.

Keeping the flow of commerce and community moving forward.
