Ryan Henley Appointed Office Leader in Knoxville

Vaughn & Melton Consulting Engineers has appointed a new leader to oversee operations at its Knoxville branch. Ryan Henley has accepted the new role effective August 3,2020. In addition to the role of office leader at the Knoxville location, Henley also serves as the manager for the Tennessee Survey, Right-of-Way, and Construction, Engineering and Inspection division.

“Ryan is an outstanding individual and employee. He began his career at Vaughn and Melton as a senior crew chief working in our survey department. During this time, it was apparent that he had some special skill sets that would serve both him and V&M well. When we had a need to fill a management position in our Right-of-Way department Ryan was a logical choice given his survey and construction background. When asked to fill this role he didn't hesitate and quickly learned the requirements to be highly successful in his new position” stated David Harrell, President and CEO of Vaughn & Melton.

Harrell continues, “Later when a need suddenly developed in the middle of a very complex and high-profile construction project to provide management for that project we called on Ryan to fulfill that role. Once again, he stepped up to the challenge and· met or exceeded both ours and the client's expectations”.

Ryan is stepping into this new role, previously held by Danl Hall, the current regional vice president for V&M’s Tennessee/Kentucky area. Hall states, “Ryan has proven himself over and over again that he is able to handle any task set before him and he does this with the utmost professionalism. He is a self-starter, disciplined, extremely bright and willing to do anything asked of him to make our company successful”. Hall also commented “Ryan will make an exceptional leader for our Knoxville office and is the embodiment of our five core values – to do the right thing, to be a team player, to work with passion, to be respectful, and to be a good citizen.”

Henley stated, “I am honored, excited and invigorated to continue to grow with Vaughn and Melton and to get the opportunity to serve as Knoxville Office Leader. I am proud to be a part of a brilliant team with the ability to take any task our industry has to offer with confidence and diligence. I look forward to supporting, empowering and serving the Knoxville team as well as the V&M family. I am truly grateful for this opportunity.”

Ryan’s move into the office lead in Knoxville is part of an organizational restructure for Vaughn & Melton announced internally on July 27. The Knoxville office has 35 employees. The firm offers multiple engineering services including transportation and structure design, construction engineering and inspection, civil design, water resource design and management, surveying and geographic information systems, drone services, right of way acquisition, public relations for large-scale improvement projects and subsurface utility engineering and management.
