Water Resources
Safeguarding drinking water, managing ground and surface water, and wastewater treatment is the focus of Vaughn & Melton’s water resource engineers. We offer design-build expertise for water distribution, sanitary sewer and stormwater management systems.
Vaughn & Melton’s water resource experience includes sewage collection and treatment systems, solid waste disposal and treatment systems, raw water intake systems, water resource assessments, feasibility studies, emergency response plans, system mapping, and operational and training assistance.
Additional water resource services we offer include the preparation of funding applications, engineering reports, budget estimating, securing permits, design plans, and specification and construction services.
Project History
Pikeville Wastewater Treatment Plant
CLIENT: City of Pikeville, KY
This work was necessary in order to address difficulties experienced at the Waste Water Treatment Plant dealing with wet weather flows and increased pollutant loading rates and to secure plant capacity for future area growth. The improvements increase the plant capacity from 2 MGD to 4 MGD average daily flow. The City of Pikeville selected Vaughn and Melton to provide budget preparation, feasibility studies, funding assistance, engineering design services, contract administration, and construction observation services for retrofitting the existing 2 MGD wastewater treatment plant.
