PROJECT: SR-115 Alcoa Highway - Knox County, TN
CLIENT: Tennessee Department of Transportation
Vaughn & Melton was selected by the Tennessee Department of Transportation to provide survey, right-of-way and construction plans on SR-115 (Alcoa Highway) from Maloney Road to Woodson Drive.
State Route 115 (US 129/Alcoa Highway) is an urban principal arterial roadway, which is on the National Highway System. It is responsible for moving traffic efficiently throughout the region, particularly between the City of Alcoa and the City of Knoxville.
This project is intended to address transportation needs, which have been identified through coordination with local officials, agencies, and the public.
Those transportation needs are as follows:
Increase the capacity of Alcoa Highway and the level of service
Correct roadway deficiencies
Reduce crashes/improve safety
The scope of work includes a roadway realignment from 4-lanes to 8-lanes with an adjacent greenway, three roundabouts, three interchange grade crossings, center barrier wall, frontage roads along the commercial area and 17 side roads. Vaughn & Melton also prepared the Utility Design package to relocate water, gas, and sewer facilities.
The project length is approximately 1.7 miles.
The project cost is estimated to be $34.5M
